Our Future...
Children are our future. We at Wisconsin Choi Kwang Do will help you get them ready for their journey through life. Our goal isn't simply to make them martial artists who can defend themselves against actual physical attack, but to better prepare them for the pressures and problems of life as they grow up. Our positive approach to teaching will encourage some children to become more assertive, while helping others to channel their aggression in a more positive manner. As a result of our training, the martial arts student will most likely develop confidence, self-respect and courage. This means confidence in their ability to defend themselves appropriately, confidence in setting realistic life goals, and confidence in the decisions they make in order to achieve those goals they have set. Children usually reach higher levels of academic achievement, develop good manners, and learn the value of having respect for themselves and for others. No matter what your child will grow up to be in life, we can help him or her off to a great start!
Get them off the couch!
Our Choi Kwang Do curriculum helps reinforce a healthy lifestyle that parents desire for their children. As a parent, its often difficult to help your child reach that balance with all of the television, computers, video games that children are bombarded with on a daily basis. Our training will give your child a healthy level of exercise and mental stimulation that they simply can't receive playing on a computer or watching television. They'll begin to learn to set goals at home and at school that will help them throughout their life.
No bullies!
As a parent, you naturally want your child to be able to not be a part of the violence that permeates our world. Choi Kwang Do martial arts will give them a way to defend themselves properly without them becoming a bully or use their new found skills inappropriately against other children. In keeping with our schools philosophy, all students are taught to resolve conflicts with other people in a mature way, relying on communication and good manners rather than resorting to physical violence. Martial arts always will be used only as a last resort of self-defense. Examples of real life situations are frequently used during class that help the child know to deal with violence or confrontation at school or around their neighborhood. Other areas such as child abuse and harassment from adults, or what to do if their lost, are further dealt with in a sensitive and basic manner that almost any child can understand.
Leaders in life.
Our students learn that leadership goes hand in hand with being able to communicate with and being respectful of others. Not just respect for their fellow students in martial arts, but for siblings, parents, teachers, and themselves. The traits of confidence, self-discipline, respect, and cooperation are developed with the help and support of parents. Many of our students exhibit their leadership skills and appropriate behavior by being invited to be a part of the Junior Leadership Team and our S.T.O.R.M. (Special Team Of Role Models) Team.
Improved grades at school.
It is the goals of CKD instructors to encourage children to excel in every way. The coordinated, bilateral movements that are found in our martial arts are designed to help stimulate the brain which improves concentration, memory, and overall mental sharpness. It almost always leads to better grades at school and better behavior at home.
The parents and instructors role.
We realize that being a parent in today's world isn't easy. We're living in an age of instant gratification--nearly everything is available at a moments notice. From the internet, video games, television and movies, our children are being distracted and bombarded by poor influences and negative ideas. With all of these distractions, raising balanced well-rounded is a challenge. Choi Kwang Do helps children learn the value of hard work and self-control. It is very important for us to work together to help a child develop to his or her fullest potential! For those 'single' parent households, our instructors have been carefully chosen to help fill a void any child's life and become a role model that will only help your child to feel safe and welcome in our school and in their own life!
