Meet our staff!

Chief Instructor Hadley.jpg

Mr. Hadley began his martial arts training in September of 2000. He first began training in another art but quickly knew it wasn't for him.

After spending time at the Kennesaw headquarters, William quickly switched over to the art of Choi Kwang Do Since switching arts, he has suffered no injuries, has stopped needing his asthma inhaler. He tested for his second degree black belt at the European 20th anniversary celebration in London England in April of 2008.

Mr. Hadley loves teaching children especially but is equally enthusiastic about working with adults. He hopes to open more schools in the future to spread the good word about CKD.  Mr. Hadley was also inducted into the 2009 USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Marie DeGaro

Marie now works with children of all ages and earned her blackbelt in November of 2009.  With her firm voice and ever present smile, the students love to be around Marie and train with her whenever they can! With the confidence that her new blackbelt has brought her, I know when she's on the floor the students will be well taken care of!

Matthew Hadley

Matthew joined Choi Kwang Do after completing his second degree blackbelt in another martial art.  He wanted to work closely with his father in helping to train others and wanted to benefit from the health benefits that aren't available in other martial arts!
Matthews gracefulness and confidence in his training shows through the first time you meet him!  Matt became only the second student in Wisconsin to earn his first degree blackbelt in CKD and is a great role model for students young and old!

Jim Patzer

Jim began intense regular aerobic workouts in 2006 to lose weight.  After two years he had lost 130 pounds but he had lost quite a bit of stamina.  In June 2008 Jim decided to join after reading about CKD's health benefits and the natural, non-destructive movements.  Despite having no previous training in the martial arts, Jim has regained his stamina through Choi Kwang Do!  He has lost an additional 30 pounds and has experienced other health benefits (see our testimonial page).  Jim continues to train today in order to experience more of all the health benefits it offers!  Also earning his blackbelt in November of 2009, Jim's attention to detail has been a great resource for our staff and students.

Julie Thatcher - Program Director

Julie joined Choi Kwang Do in Milwaukee in July of 2008.  Her son Michael joined in May of 2008.  She attends classes 12-15 hours per week and greets our guests and performs other program director duties behind the scene.  She also sews the patches on our students uniforms, plans parties, and is just the school's all around 'do it all' person.  She also wants everyone to know she has lost over 100 pounds (9 dress sizes) and has stopped taking three medications since she has begun classes.

Brye Fluegge

Brye trained in another martial art for two years before leaving due to lack of support from her instructors.  She discovered Choi while enrolling one of her sons in the classes.  By the end of the first class she knew she had discovered something wonderful and enrolled herself that same night.  A month later she had her other son join also.  Brye has type 1 Juvenile Diabetes and since she began her training she no longer needs as much insulin as before.  She has toned her muscles and has dropped two dress sizes.  Brye has become a first Dan blackbelt in CKD and eventually open her own school!  She wants everyone to know what a special martial art Choi Kwang Do is!

Our Team of Junior Leaders
These are a pair of youngsters who are not old enough to become assistants but want to help out whenever possible.  They are a awesome couple of kids who we can always rely on to be good examples for others and can always be depended on whenever we need something done.
